TJR Construction Group is a family-owned general contracting firm, located in Liberty Hill, Texas, that specializes in both residential and commercial construction projects in the Central Texas area.
Travis and John Rhoades have been building together since Travis was old enough to hold a hammer. In 2014 they started TJR Construction Group.
They built the company on 5 simple values:
Since it’s very humble beginning in 2014 (our first job was a small bathroom remodel in a condo in northwest Austin) TJR has steadily grown in customers, projects, size and complexity of projects, revenues and profits. Today over 90% of TJR’s business comes from repeat customers and word-of-mouth referrals from existing customers.

Travis Rhoades
After graduating from Colorado State University in 2007 with a degree in Construction Management, Travis went to work for a multifamily developer in Denver, Colorado. The first project he was involved in was building a $70 million, 300-unit apartment complex with a three-story parking garage, located in the Denver area. In 2008 Travis and his wife Tara felt Texas calling (Travis is a New Braunfels native) so they relocated to Cedar Park, Texas.
Travis worked for multiple small general contracting companies for the next 8 years and ran projects from ground up construction of hotels, carwashes and restaurants, to tenant finish outs and data centers. In 2014 Travis started TJR Construction with his father John as a side venture. In 2016, Travis moved full time to TJR. TJR Construction has allowed Travis to build a solid construction company he is very proud of and has given him the flexibility to do his favorite job, being the husband to Tara (16 years of marriage) and the father to 3 amazing kids.
When Travis is not working for TJR he can be found coaching youth flag football with his son, being the loudest cheer dad possible at his daughters’ cheerleading events or being the DJ at the kids’ basketball games. And if by some miracle there is more time outside of these activities, you will find him attempting to catch fish or scouring the aisles of Academy hoping to find the cure to his terrible fishing game.
John Rhoades
John Rhoades is an Austin, Texas native. He attended McCallum High School, the University of Texas and Texas State University. He received a bachelor’s degree in business management. Soon after graduating from college John married his wife, Phyllis. They have been married for 46 years and have raised three wonderful children and are now blessed to be the grandparents to 9 amazing grandchildren.
John’s love for building started at a very young age when he worked alongside his father building a family lake cabin on Lake Travis. That love for building steadily grew over the years as John worked in various leadership positions for McGraw-Hill Construction Information Group. In 2014 John and son Travis officially started TJR Construction Group. Soon after TJR was started John left corporate life for good in order to pursue his dream job, working beside his son (and someday grandsons and granddaughters) in building a great family owned construction business capable of constructing very special projects.
